we were called back to the hospital Monday night after some of kai's lab results came back elevated. her doctors think her anti rejecton medicine, prograf, is being dosed too high and she is experiencing toxicity from that. prograf can effect the kidneys so kai has been severely dehydrated. over the last 24 hours they have been pumping her full of iv fluids and hope to start her back on the special, low-fat formula today. I am still unable to nurse as she cannot digest the fats in my breast milk but we hope those issues will resolve in the next 2-4 weeks.
kai seemed to thouroughly enjoy her time at home over the weekend and we hope to be able to take her home again soon. we have not been told exactly how long they expect to keep us here this time but, we are crossing our fingers in hopes that we'll be able to take her home by the end of the week.
we hope everyone is doing well and appreciate all of your support, as always.
