As some of you may know, my daughter Kai received a liver transplant as a baby and endures chronic, life-threatening illness.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation sent us to Disney World last April to grant Kai's wish. She met Ariel, pet dolphins, was made into a princess, and more.
For Kai, it meant a week during which she got to do what SHE wanted to do. Instead of being held down for "owies" and a rigorous schedule of appointments with doctors and specialists, she called the shots - Ice cream for breakfast? Sure! A ride on the 24-hour carousel at Give Kids The World? Absolutely! You want to be a princess with a fancy crown? Pet dolphins? Get soaked by Shamoo's tail? Wish granted. She was even invited to the cockpit by the captain and crew on our flight to Orlando.
For a kid with very little control over what happens in her life, this meant so much. For our family, it meant a much needed break that we couldn't have afforded otherwise.
Please consider joining us or donating to help grant other wishes for kids like Kai.
