I went through 1 transplant; it nearly broke me. I cannot imagine going through 3. David is having severe complications with his and this mother and her family are hanging on to the hope that he will pull through.
She has a blog, Transplanted Thoughts (her tag line is "4 boys, 3 transplants... Life is still funny." I love that!) and she just posted on "Inspiration". She goes on to say that her son, David, is an inspiration and how she finds how he has moved people across the country to act on his behalf, inspirational- There is a national blood drive, starting today, being held in his honor.
Well, Amy, you are inspirational, too. Your love and dedication as a parent, as well as your strength, courage and ability to keep your sense of humor, is astounding. Thank you for symbolizing what true love really is. Your story is humbling and really puts things into perspective.
I've always felt that having a child teaches you what love is... having a terminally ill child teaches you how to fight for it.
So, if you have a moment, today, mozy on over to her blog: http://transplantedx3.wordpress.com/. And, maybe, consider rolling up your sleeve sometime this week/month and give a pint in honor of David.
