Chronicles Of Mommihood

if anyone had told me, 3 years ago, that i would be on my hands and knees scrubbing poop out of my organically grown, fair trade jute rug with a toothbrush i would have told them they were crazy. yet, had you been at my house a couple of nights ago, that's what you would have seen.

i've traded my business suits and heels for well-worn jeans and tennis shoes, trips to the spa for 10 minute showers and cold coffee, happy hour for nap-time and nights out on the town for days at home cleaning the house. my days are filled with dirty diapers, laundry and singing about all my activities to the tune of "elmo's world".

while, admittedly, mommihood can be frustrating at times, i wouldn't go back to my old life if you offered me a million dollars. i might be tempted to visit the spa now and then and being able to finish a cup of coffee before it gets cold would be nice, but i feel so much more fulfilled and satisfied. all the things that seemed important before are all minute and pale in comparison to the joy of raising a child. there is nothing more rewarding than her smile.

so, i really don't mind scrubbing poop out of the carpet now and then. it's tough to find a way to sing that to the tune of "elmo's world", though...
