Prayers For Kai

Some of you are already aware of our situation as our family has been keeping people informed as much as possible.

Our 3-month old daughter, Kai, is very sick. She has a liver disease called Biliary Atresia that eventually will cause her liver to fail. She needs a liver transplant in the very near future to save her life. We are 90% sure that Ryan will be able to donate a piece of his liver to her but she is too small for the surgery right now and we must wait until she grows a little bigger over the next few months, unless her current condition worsens to the point that they must do an emergency transplant.

We are at home with her now with a hospice nurse. She has a feeding tube to help get her the extra calories she needs to get bigger. My mom is moving in with us to help with her care; we are so grateful for that.

Thank you to everyone who has kept her in their thoughts and prayers, a huge Thank You to all of our friends here in Maryland who have been helping us out while we’ve been in the hospital and a special Thank You to those of you who have offered to donate a piece of your liver to her. Right now they are focusing on Ryan so don’t be alarmed if the hospital doesn’t schedule testing for you but, if he is not a match or if she needs a second transplant we may need you. Words can not express the gratitude we feel in our hearts for your generous and selfless offer to save Kai’s life.

I will respond to you each individually when I can and I will do my best to keep you posted. Ryan’s mom has been sending out updates. If you would like to be added to her email list, just let me know.
